Rising Kazakh hopeful Janibek Alimkhanuly (8-0, 4) [Жанибек Алимханулы] has long been tipped for success, even if he hasn't always looked like a man trying to make a statement in the ring. His performances have, at times, been uninspired and it has felt like he's needing bigger tests to get the most out of him and his undeniable talent.
It now seem that Alimkhanuly really is doing what he can to secure bigger fights, and he has gone to social media to call out WBO Middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade (28-0, 17).
The unbeaten Uzbek prospect posted the following to Instagram, in both English and Kazakh:
"“I was ready yesterday and will be ready tomorrow. I will easily win this fight. Do not doubt it. I will beat him even on the moon and under water. I hope this fight will take place very soon, because I really need my champion’s title. Now I am in sixth place in the WBO ranking. Fans deserve this fight. Let's do it, "
Given how Andrade has often claimed to be one of the sports most avoided fighters, claiming top fighters duck him and that no one wants to face him, it's going to be interesting to see how he responds to being called out. We don't imagine he'll be in a rush to face Alimkhanuly, but with only 3 fights since the start of 2018, and 6 since the start of 2016, it's clear that he needs to be more active if he's to make a big name for himself, and turning down a challenge from a contender like Alimkhanuly, would appear rather hypocritical.
