Unbeaten Bantamweight contender Reymart Gaballo joins PBC!

0 5
Right now the Bantamweight division is one of the most compelling in the sport. It, of course, features superstars like Naoya Inoue and Nonito Donaire, who will clash in the WBSS final later this year, but also a host of talented fighters, like Nordine Oubaali, Takuma Inoue, Zolani Tete, Johnriel Casimero and Luis Nery.

Today the news broke, thanks to the excellent Ryan Songalia, that one of the members from the chasing pack had signed with PBC and MP Promotions.

That fighter was Reymart Gaballo (21-0, 18), one of the most criminally over-looked Bantamweights on the planet and a fighter who could, if managed right, become one of the future stars of the division.

The unbeaten Gaballo is a true under-the-radar fighter who at just 22 years old already looks like he has the maturity and ability to be let off the leash, so to speak. To date 18 of his 21 bouts have taken place in his native Philippines, hiding him away from much of the boxing public, though he did make a mark in 2018 when he defeated the then unbeaten Stephon Young for the WBA "interim" title. Sadly Gaballo didn't actually defend that belt, fighting in 2 non-title bouts following his big win.

For fans who haven't seen him he's a really smooth, aggressive, heavy handed and exciting fighter who has the style to get excited about., as you can see in the video below from his February fight with Yuya Nakamura. For those who have seen him they will know exactly what to expect, and why this signing is such an exciting one for the PBC.

Sadly aside from the win overYoung there is little on his record to get excited about. However, with MP Promotions, PBC, Sanman Promotions and match maker Sean Gibbons all working together to plot his rise to the top the sky really is the limit for the excellent youngster.

The PBC currently have Luis Nery, among others, on their books and whilst a Nery Vs Gaballo bout is probably not in the immediate plans for either man, it is a natural bout to build to in the future. Both men are young, heavy handed, aggressive and look for stoppage, both are in the title mix, and both will be hungry top prove a point. Whilst this is likely a few years away, it is certainly a bout that is possible.

For the immediate future Gaballo is expected to fight at the end of the month, making his PBC debut in the process.
