Since Hasanboy Dusmatov [Ҳасанбой Дўсматов] won the Val Baker trophy at the 2016 Rio Olympics we've seen various stories of him heading to the professional ranks, only to see those stories fail to become reality. Today we saw yet another story linking him to, finally, turning professional.
The fighter is currently in Los Angeles, having left Uzbekistan at the end of July, and he has told the Uzbek press that he will start training tomorrow.
Olamsports have revealed that among those he is training with are other Uzbek's, one who have turned professional. They include Shakhram Giyasov (8-0, 6) [Shahram G‘iyosov], Isrial Madrimov (3-0, 3) [Isroil Madrimov], Murodjon Akhmadaliev (6-0, 5) [Ахмадалиев, Муроджон Кахарович] and Bektemir Melikuziev (1-0, 1) [Бектемир Мелиқўзиев].
At the moment Olamsports haven't gone all out and stated he has gone pro, but the indication from them is that he towards the professional ranks and is likely to sign with Russian promotional outfit World Boxing, who promote the Uzbek's that he is training alongside.
It should be noted that Olamsport has ran previous stories announcing that Dusmatov has signed professional papers in the past, so we do hold our breath on seeing how this plays out. If he does go on and become a professional he will be the biggest name to turn over to the professionals following the recent decision on which divisions would be contest in at the Olympics, which included scrapping the 49KG Light Flyweight division.
