Weights: Pacquiao-Thurman set for Saturday
Tomorrow’s main event is set.
Manny Pacquiao and Keith Thurman both made weight today in Las Vegas, and tomorrow night’s FOX pay-per-view main event for the WBA welterweight title is good to go.
Pacquiao (61-7-2, 39 KO) and Thurman (29-0, 22 KO) both weighed in at 146½ pounds, just under the 147-pound limit for the fight. The two then did a STAREDOWN! which was INTENSE! Or at least it was on Thurman’s side, he gave Pacquiao the Manson lamps.
So the main event is good to go.
The rest of the card is pretty much set, too. On the pay-per-view broadcast, we’ll see Yordenis Ugas (147) face Omar Figueroa Jr (147) in another welterweight bout, plus Sergey Lipinets (147) against Jayar Inson (147) in yet another welterweight bout. Inson has stepped in for John Molina Jr.
The bantamweight fight between Luis Nery and Juan Carlos Payano will go on, surely, but Nery did weigh in a half-pound over the limit at 118½.
On the FOX prelims, airing at 7 pm ET before the PPV starts at 9 pm ET, Caleb Plant (168) and Mike Lee (167) made weight for the IBF super middleweight title fight, and heavyweights Efe Ajagba and Ali Eren Demirezen weighed in at 242 and 247½, respectively.
