ESSEX, England – Leigh Wood slayed “The Monster”. The Nottingham man, a hefty pre-fight underdog against The Ring’s No. 3 featherweight Xu Can, produced the performance of his life to stun and then knockout the feared Beijing man, stopping him with 17 seconds remaining in the 12th round.

Chris Billam-Smith is now the British, Commonwealth and European cruiserweight champion after a hard-fought 12-round split decision win over Belfast’s Tommy McCarthy. The Bournemouth man won by margins of 114-115, 115-114 and 116-112 to add McCarthy’s European strap to his collection of hardware.
