WBO orders Jaime Munguia-Dennis Hogan

Hogan has won six straight since a loss to Jack Culcay

Less than two weeks after slugging his way past Takeshi Inoue, WBO super welterweight champ Jaime Munguia has fresh marching orders. The sanctioning body has given him 30 days to negotiate with #1 contender Dennis Hogan or face a purse bid.

Hogan’s game.

Ready when you are champ

Munguia (32-0, 26 KO) currently intends to make his next defense on April 13th in Monterrey, Mexico. No word yet as to whether he’ll fight Hogan (28-1-1, 7 KO) then or adjust the date and/or location to something more amenable to his Australia-based Irish foe.

Hogan owns wins over former kickboxing standout Steve Moxon as well as veterans Tyrone Brunson and Jimmy Kilrain. He unsuccessfully challenged Jack Culcay for the interim WBA belt back in 2015, losing a unanimous decision in the latter’s native Germany.

He shouldn’t offer Munguia anything the latter hasn’t seen before, but Munguia could put on a barnburner against a lamppost with two fire pokers duct-taped to it, so I’m completely fine with this.
