Iaquinta calls out Ferguson after UFC Milwaukee win over Lee

After a big win in his rematch against Kevin Lee, Al Iaquinta now wants Tony Ferguson.

Coming off a loss against Khabib Nurmagomedov in April, Al Iaquinta was able to come back strong on Saturday night with a victory over Kevin Lee. And after a notable performance, “Raging Al” now has his sights set on opponents further up the rankings.

Speaking to members of the media in a post-fight scrum, the number eight-ranked Iaquinta named Tony Ferguson as the challenge he wants next.

“I think Ferguson’s the guy. I think I’m a perfect style matchup to beat him,” Iaquinta said. “If there’s any holdup, that’s the guy I want to fight.

“He’s been hurt a lot. He gets hurt in his fights and he comes back. I think I’m a better finisher than the guys he’s fought and I think I’m getting the job done against Ferguson.”

The current title picture at 155 pounds is made blurry by the ongoing case involving Khabib Nurmagomedov, Conor McGregor, and members of their respective teams, stemming from the post-fight brawl at UFC 229 last October.

But once the champion gets clearance to fight, Iaquinta says he should be granted the fight.

“If anyone deserves a rematch with Khabib, it’s me. Not freaking McGregor,” he said.

McGregor had all the time in the world to prepare. And he fought a good fight, but at the end of the day, you can train. Just like Kevin Lee. Kevin Lee can get better. McGregor, he can train, get better. But there’s something that you can’t put in somebody.

“He’s got all that money now. He’s not getting this (heart). I got this. You can give me millions and billions of dollars, I’ll always have that. You’re not getting me out of there. You’re going to have to kill me.”

After the win against Lee, Iaquinta now improves to a record of 14-4-1, with 8 wins by stoppage. He also bagged an extra $50,000 for Performance of the Night honors.
