Odds: Canelo-Rocky card has several huge favorites

0 12

Canelo Alvarez is still the clear favorite against Rocky Fielding, plus more odds for this weekend.

Sit down, folks. Everyone, please. Have a seat. I don’t want you to faint by what I’m about to tell you.

Canelo Alvarez (50-1-2, 34 KO) is still the massive favorite against Rocky Fielding (27-1, 15 KO) for tomorrow night’s DAZN main event at Madison Square Garden.

I’ll give you all a moment to recover. I know, this was unexpected news.

Alvarez is listed at -1600 by Bovada a day out from the fight, with Fielding at +800, which is no real change from earlier in the week. The odds are still heavily in favor of the Mexican superstar, who is moving up from 160 to 168 pounds to challenge for Fielding’s WBA “world” title.

How about the undercard?

IBF super featherweight champion Tevin Farmer (27-4-1, 6 KO) is an even bigger favorite against Francisco Fonseca (22-1-1, 16 KO), with Farmer at -2250 to Fonseca’s +950.

IBF and WBA lightweight champion Katie Taylor (11-0, 5 KO) is yet a bigger favorite still, as she prepares to defend against Eva Wahlstrom (22-0-1, 3 KO), with Taylor at -3000 and Wahlstrom at +1100.

Former 154-pound titleholder Sadam Ali (26-2, 14 KO) is a large favorite, too, as he lines up in a return to welterweight against Mauricio Herrera (24-7, 7 KO). Ali is at -1800 to Herrera’s +850.

Tonight’s ESPN+ main event is considered a much more competitive fight, which realistically you didn’t need odds to tell you. Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez (38-0, 25 KO) is defending his WBO super middleweight title for a second time against Jesse Hart (25-1, 21 KO), who pushed him to the limit about 15 months ago.

Ramirez is favored to repeat, at -380, but Hart is a live dog at +290. I mean, say what you will about Bob Arum, but as far as the odds go, he’s probably not wrong when he says this is the best fight of the weekend.
