Ex-Bellator fighter accused of stabbing man through the heart

The former MMA fighter has been accused of stabbing a man through the heart.

On Saturday ,police in Jupiter, FL arrested Danny Lynn Tims III, 29, and charged him with attempted homicide, robbery, aggravated battery, and vehicle theft. Tims, who is originally from Missouri, is a professional MMA fighter who last fought in 2015. He appeared three times for Bellator in 2010.

According to CBS 4 in Miami, Tims was arrested in connection with a stabbing incident at the Jupiter Cove apartment complex that left an unnamed 37-year-old man in critical condition.

The Palm Beach Post reports that police believe Tims stabbed the 37-year-old in the heart with a knife and stabbed that victim’s girlfriend in the thigh. Tims is accused of stealing the woman’s purse and car after the alleged attack.

An arrest report states that Tims and the woman are roommates and that there was an argument between Tims and the victims before the stabbing. Tims was arrested 30 minutes after the incident when he was spotted in the victim’s car.

Tims is currently in custody at Palm Beach County Jail with bail set at $653,000. Court records reveal no prior criminal history for Tims in Palm Beach County. However, he has an extensive criminal history in Missouri, according to court records there.

Between 2011 and 2015 Tims was charged with misdemeanors for various traffic infractions and marijuana possession. In 2013 he plead guilty to possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, three counts of domestic assault (second degree), and one count of unlawful use of a weapon. He was sentenced to four years in prison.

In Florida, attempted first-degree murder is punishable by a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. Tims is considered innocent of all charges until proven guilty.
