Cecilia Braekhus looks for her 23rd title defense on the undercard

The Russian Boxing Federation brings good news: the World Boxing Super Series cruiserweight final between Oleksandr Usyk and Murat Gassiev will go down on July 21st in Moscow’s Olympic Stadium and also feature Cecilia Braekhus against Inna Sagaydakovskaya.

The final was originally scheduled for May 11th in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia before Usyk suffered an elbow injury.

There were recent rumblings that the Ukrainian Usyk (14-0, 11 KO) would refuse to fight in Russia, leaving Gassiev (26-0, 19 KO) to fight Andrew Tabiti, but it would appear that those were incorrect. We will indeed see all four major cruiserweight titles unified this summer in the division’s most interesting matchup.

Braekhus (33-0, 9 KO) had a rough introduction to American audiences on May’s GGG-Canelo card, suffering the first knockdown of her career in a decision over Kali Reis. She’s still the welterweight champ, though, and is now nine years into her reign. Sagaydakovskya (7-0, 3 KO), whose name I actually managed to spell without reference that time, is BoxRec’s #4 super welterweight, although she weighed in at 150.25 for her title bout so I’d imagine there won’t be much of a size difference.
