Bellew needs ‘something absolutely ridiculous’ to fight again

Tony Bellew says it’ll take something “huge” to get him back into a ring.

Tony Bellew stopped David Haye again on Saturday, and says it’ll take “something huge” to get him to come back to the ring again.

The 35-year-old fighter, now 30-2-1 (20 KO), spoke with Sky Sports on Sunday.

“It will take something absolutely ridiculous to make me do it again. Something huge. It would have to be massive because I’m happy with what I’ve done. I’ve proven everyone wrong.

”I’ve been the biggest dreamer for my whole life — I said I’d fight at Goodison Park, I said I’d be amateur champion after two fights. But it’s another thing to really believe it. I stuck by my dream and it’s got me to here.”

That said, Bellew does have some ideas. One is Tyson Fury, and he feels he can knock Fury out if they do meet. And another is Andre Ward, who is officially retired. The two could meet at cruiserweight or some sort of catchweight between 175 and 200, perhaps, if Ward were tempted to return to active duty.
