Woodley: ‘Khabib would probably be my toughest fight in the UFC’

Welterweight champion Tyron Woodley says lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov would be his toughest match up in the UFC.

Tyron Woodley has been very confident every time he discussed how he stacks up against the current batch of contenders at 170 lbs. Interestingly enough, the welterweight champion has now claimed that his toughest match up in the UFC would be against a lightweight.

“If I had fought Khabib, he would definitely be my hardest fight,” Woodley said on a recent Instagram live stream. “He has relentless amount of pressure, crazy ground and pound, heavy hands, good chin, very very persistent.

“I think I can beat anybody though, but if I had to compete against him, Khabib would probably be my toughest fight in the UFC.”

Khabib Nurmagomedov is gearing up to face Tony Ferguson next weekend, and with his past weight issues, it isn’t a stretch to think that he could eventually move up in weight in the future. If the unbeaten Dagestani manages to win the lightweight belt at UFC 223 — and he is currently favored to do so — maybe Woodley could finally get that super-fight he has been constantly campaigning for.

Perhaps that is also why he is already talking up this potential match up.
