Bryan Caraway vs. Luke Sanders set for UFC Fresno

0

Bantamweight contender Bryan Caraway will end his long layoff on December 9th, when he takes on Luke Sanders at UFC Fight Night: Swanson vs. Ortega in California.

It’s been well over a year since bantamweight veteran Bryan Caraway stepped foot inside the UFC’s Octagon. We will soon see Caraway competing again, as the UFC has booked him for a December 9th showdown against Luke Sanders. ESPN’s Brett Okamoto first reported the fight on Tuesday.

Caraway (21-7) last fought in May 2016, winning a split decision over Aljamain Sterling, who was undefeated at the time. He was scheduled to face Jimmie Rivera at UFC Phoenix in January, only to withdraw due to injury. Caraway has a 6-2 record in the UFC, with his only defeats coming against Raphael Assuncao and Takeya Mizugaki.

Sanders (11-1) is coming off the first loss of his career, an improbable come-from-behind kneebar finish by Iuri Alcantara at UFC 209 in March. The MMA Lab fighter was supposed to fight Felipe Arantes in Pittsburgh last month, but an Arantes’ illness led to the fight being cancelled at the last minute. Sanders made his UFC debut in January 2016, choking out Maximo Blanco in just under four minutes at UFC Boston.

UFC Fresno features a featherweight main event between Cub Swanson and Brian Ortega. The night’s main card airs live on Fox Sports 1.
