Tim Elliott vs. Justin Scoggins set for UFC on FOX 26 in Winnipeg

Flyweights Tim Elliott and Justin Scoggins are set to square off at UFC on FOX 26, which marks the organization’s second show in Winnipeg.

Entertaining flyweights Tim Elliott and Justin Scoggins will do battle north of the border in December.

Elliott and Scoggins are set to square off at UFC on FOX 26 in Winnipeg, UFC officials announced Thursday.

Elliott (14-8-1) was released from the UFC in 2015, but after a 3-0 run in Titan FC, which consisted of a title win and two title defenses, he participated in and won The Ultimate Fighter 24. That earned Elliott a title shot against 125-pound champion Demetrious Johnson and a return to the big leagues, but he ultimately came up short against “Mighty Mouse” last December. Since then, Elliott, currently ranked ninth in the official UFC standings, has defeated Louis Smolka and dropped a submission defeat to rising contender Ben Nguyen.

Once one of the most promising flyweights, Scoggins (11-4) is currently riding a two-fight skid and is looking to get back on track before the end of 2017. “Tank” defeated Ray Borg, who fights Johnson for the flyweight belt at UFC 215 this weekend, in February 2016, but after being forced out of a fight against Ian McCall due to weight issues, he opted to move up to bantamweight. Scoggins fought once at 135 pounds — he lost to Pedro Munhoz by come-from-behind submission — and chose to return to 125 pounds afterwards. In his last fight, Scoggins was tapped out by underdog Yuta Sasaki.

UFC on FOX 26 takes place at Bell MTS Place in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on Dec. 16. A main event has not yet been announced for the card.
