Jose Aldo eyes November return, believes Cub Swanson would be a ‘great opponent’

Jose Aldo would like to rematch Cub Swanson following his UFC 212 loss to Max Holloway.

Two months following his TKO loss to Max Holloway at UFC 212, where he lost the featherweight title for the second time, Jose Aldo has started thinking about what his next step is going to be.

Speaking to Combate, he revealed that not being the champion anymore was actually a relief and a weight off his back. However, he would still like to fight one more time before the year ends, and sees Cub Swanson as the perfect fit for the role.

“I do think it’s a weight off my back. Now I can get in there and take more chances, like I always did. I always respected all my opponents, but now I can be a wild card again. I can put on exciting fights, I think that’s what the fans want from me. I want to be back as soon as possible. I asked them to fight again in November, tops. I think we’re going according the rankings. I believe Cub is a great opponent for now, so I can get back in the win column.”

Jose Aldo, of course, already defeated Cub Swanson back in WEC, in 2009. At the time, Aldo caught Swanson with a double flying knee eight seconds into the first round, marking the win as the fastest in Aldo’s career.

Currently, Swanson rides a four-fight winning streak, with wins over Hacran Dias, Tatsuya Kawajiri, Doo Ho Choi and Artem Lobov.
