Lomachenko not impressed by Mikey Garcia

0

Vasyl Lomachenko doesn’t view Garcia as an A-class fighter.

I suppose when you’re viewed as arguably the best stylist in the sport it’s hard to be impressed by others fighters. Vasyl Lomachenko took some time to give his thoughts on Mikey Garcia’s win over Adrien Broner and what he thinks of the fighter. RingTV captured Lomachenko’s sentiments during a conference call that took place after the fight.

“I didn’t see anything in that bout (to suggest) that he’s a Class-A, outstanding fighter,” Lomachenko, through manager/translator Egis Klimas, told a small group of reporters during a conference call Monday. “Yes, he won the fight, yes he did everything to win that fight. But I haven’t seen anything outstanding. I haven’t seen a Class-A fighter. I almost fell asleep.”

Mikey Garica has mentioned his interest in facing Lomachenko at 135lbs following the Broner win, with his brother/trainer Robert suggesting that Lomachenko should be embarrassed by fighting someone like Miguel Marriaga in a main event on ESPN this Saturday (Marriaga is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Oscar Valdez this past April).

It remains to be seen whether a potential fight between Garcia and Lomachenko could eventually come together considering all the elements involved, but it appear to be a good and competitive fight at face value — unless you’re Lomachenko, that is.
