Conor McGregor will fight Floyd Mayweather but then what?

0

It is official. The deal is done. Talks of maybe they will, maybe they won't are over. Thoughts of it being a mismatch and protests of the fight staining the name of boxing don't matter because Floyd Mayweather is out of retirement and will fight Conor McGregor. Despite what people may believe, we are all watching, we all want to know the result of the big question, can McGregor hang with boxings best?

The big fight being known as 'the money fight' will take place August 26th of this year, but with both sides said to be collecting big money for this fight, we wonder what exactly Conor McGregor will do after he collects his pay. It is rumored that he will make close to 100 million for his fight with Mayweather. At 28 years old, Conor McGregor still has plenty of fight left in him, but with his big payday he very well could ride off into the sunset with having collected the featherweight and lightweight titles in the UFC. McGregor, has opened many doors for himself and has been offered movie roles and television show roles which he rejected all and focused solely on fighting. With that being said, McGregor has nothing but options when he finally does decide to call it quits in the fight game.

However, in a media scrum after the official announcement of Mayweather McGregor, UFC president Dana White was asked if we would see Conor McGregor in the UFC again. Dana White said McGregor would be defending his lightweight title this year. But why? Granted he is a UFC fighter and still under contract and an employee of WME/IMG and has yet to defend any of his belts. But with such a big pay day coming his way, why go back and get paid far less in what is arguably a much more riskier sport than boxing. Conor is UFC's biggest star and UFC is currently in need of star power. So was part of the deal with Conor and UFC for Conor to come back and fight in the UFC in order to not lose their biggest star?

With all that has been said, it seems Conor McGregor will not call it a career after boxing Floyd Mayweather. But what a great exit it would be to get in, get rich, and get out as Mystic Mac predicted earlier in his UFC career.
