Tim Hague in critical condition after knockout loss

0

Hague went 1-4 in the UFC

Another day, another tragedy.

Former UFC heavyweight and current boxer Tim Hague was rushed to the hospital Friday evening after a knockout loss to Adam Braidwood. Hague’s sister confirmed on Saturday that “The Thrashing Machine” was in critical condition.

Hague was knocked down three times in the first round and clearly had nothing for Braidwood. While I admit to having the benefit of hindsight, there was no point in that fight where a reasonable observer could say Hague had a chance.

Hague’s 21-13 MMA career saw him knocked out eight times, most notably by Todd Duffee in just seven seconds, and he ended his career with four knockout losses in his last five fights. He made the move back to boxing, where he had not competed since 2011, in September and lost two straight (once by knockout) before the Braidwood disaster.

Hague is boxing’s third casualty in the last three weeks. Canadian club fighter David Whittom and young featherweight Daniel Franco each suffered brain injuries after knockout losses.

Keep Hague and his family in your thoughts.
