Broadcast team set for Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor PPV

0

Well Joe Rogan end up in the booth for Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor? There’s still a chance, but he’s not part of official Showtime broadcast team.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Conor McGregor has the makings to be one of the most watched PPV sporting events in history. As such, there’s going to be a lot of attention paid to every aspect of the event’s production. From venue (the T-Mobile Arena), to pre-fight promotion (the UFC doing their Embedded series, while Showtime produces mini-docs on Mayweather), and of course the broadcast itself. On that final note, by the look of things, McGregor vs. Mayweather will be mostly a Showtime affair.

SportingNews.com reports that Mauro Ranallo, Al Bernstein, and Paul Maglianaggi will call the action, with Ranallo on play-by-play and Bernstein & Maglianaggi providing color commentary.

Jim Gray will provide reporting from ringside, with Steve Farhood serving as the unofficial scorer. Brian Custer will ‘host’ the event.

Apparently the broadcast will also feature several, yet to be named, “guest commentator,” slots that will most likely be used to fill in more of the UFC-specific angles. So, while he won’t be holding down one of the round-by-round places in the booth, there’s still a chance fans might get to see Joe Rogan or other members of the UFC’s team working Mayweather vs. McGregor.

The event is set to go down in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 26th. There’s no word yet on what other bouts may make it to the PPV undercard, but stay tuned to Bloody Elbow as we’ll be keeping you up to date on all the news and notes as they happen.
