Report: Jamaica bobsledder at Olympics has failed doping test

Berlin (dpa) - A member of Jamaica‘s women‘s bobsleigh team at the Winter Olympics has tested positive for a banned drug, according to a report in Jamaica quoting the national bobsleigh federation.Chris Stokes, the president of the Jamaica Bobsled and Skeleton Federation, confirmed that one of the two athletes who competed in Pyeongchang had returned an adverse analytical finding for a banned drug.It followed a control in Switzerland in mid-January, the Gleaner reported on Sunday.Stokes said that the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation has informed the athlete of the positive test. There was no immediate confirmation from the federation.Jazmine Fenlator-Victorian and Carrie Russell competed for Jamaica in Pyeongchang in the two-man bobsled, finishing 18th."I know that the world is trying to fight performance enhancement in sports and, it might touch you, and you play your part, and you do that by co-operating, and I am certain that everything will be cleared," Stokes was quoted as saying.It will be shown to be "much ado about nothing" at the end of the process, he added.
