Pyeongchang, South Korea (dpa) - Francesco Friedrich piloted Germany to gold in the four-man bobsleigh at the Olympic Sliding Centre on Sunday, while his countryman Nico Walther tied with South Korea‘s Won Yun Jong for silver. Friedrich finished in a combined time of 3 minutes 15.85 seconds after the fourth and final heat, 0.53 seconds ahead of Walther and Won, for his second gold at the Games. The win means that Germany has won gold in all three bobsled events at the Pyeongchang Games, after winning the two-man - where Friedrich shared gold with Canada - and the women‘s competition, earlier this week."I am so proud of the whole German team," Friedrich said after the race. "We did it in the two-man and the four-man and also the girls‘ gold, which wasn‘t expected.""They have been some really hard weeks. We have had to work a lot on the sled and a lot with our lines. I can‘t believe that we made it after such a tough time."Friedrich‘s win moved Germany to the top of the Pyeongchang medal count on the final day of competition, with 14 golds, although Norway has more medals in total and could add to their tally later. Germany also has now broken the four-man Olympic competition record to move to six gold medals at all Winter Games, ahead of Switzerland with five golds. The shared silver medal for Won was also notable, however, marking the first time a South Korean team has ever won a medal in an Olympic bobsled event. "I couldn‘t believe it," he said. "I was so happy with the results.""We did a lot of preparation and tests over the season, and the preparation was very thorough. That led to good results in the end."
