Berlin (dpa) - The International Olympic Committee (IOC) confirmed Wednesday that Slovenian biathlete Teja Gregorin has been disqualified from the 2010 Winter Olympics.Gregorin tested positive for the prohibited substance GHRP-2 M2 - a growth hormone releasing peptide metabolite used to aid rapid muscle growth - in re-analysis of doping samples from the Vancouver Games. The International Biathlon Union (IBU) said Tuesday that Gregorin, 37, had been removed from the results. She finished 36th in the women‘s individual event, ranked ninth in the sprint and pursuit events, fifth in the mass start and was part of the relay team that finished eighth.Gregorin was provisionally suspended in October pending a hearing at the end of November. In October the International Olympic Committee said only one positive sample had been found from 1,195 retests carried out on the 1,710 urine samples available from 2010.Gregorin took individual silver at the 2012 world championships and won bronze in the 2014 Olympic pursuit. These medals are not threatened by the disqualification and Gregorin could yet appeal her case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
