Jose Iglesias flips while tagging White Sox opponent, takes umpire with him
This almost looks scripted.
The third inning of the Chicago White Sox-Detroit Tigers game on Sunday afternoon looked like a scene from an action movie as a stolen base attempt sent Jose Iglesias flying into the air where he collided with an umpire. It all happens so quick!

Now let’s rewind this for a minute.
Yolmer Sanchez jumped out for the steal and Iglesias was ready to tag him
Looks like a routine play, but the throw was wide. That meant Iglesias had to move a few steps towards Sanchez, which spelled doom for a collision between the two.
Little did second base umpire Mark Carlson know Iglesias was going to end up flying into him after flipping mid-air.
Iglesias goes airborne
OH NO!
Iglesias brings the umpire down with him
NOOOOOOOO!
MORE NO!!!
Here’s another angle:

If you look closely, Iglesias’ foot nearly hit the umpire, but it didn’t, he just tripped him.
Luckily everyone involved was OK, and the effort from Iglesias was worth it in the outcome as the baserunner was called out.
