Penguins vs. Capitals 2017 live stream: Time, TV channel, and how to watch NHL playoffs online

Washington hosts Pittsburgh for Game 7 on Wednesday night. The winner goes to the Eastern Conference Final.

The Washington Capitals have the opportunity to complete their Eastern Conference Semifinal comeback in Game 7 against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday night. The series is tied 3-3, thanks to back-to-back wins by the Capitals to avoid elimination.

Now back at the Verizon Center for the series clincher, Washington is in a strong position with momentum on its side. The Capitals crushed the Penguins in Game 6 with five unanswered goals. Over the first six games of the series, they’ve recorded 62 percent of 5-on-5 shot attempts between the two teams, per Natural Stat Trick.

Pittsburgh was able to withstand that possession advantage from Washington early on, but that was primarily because Marc-Andre Fleury was totally outplaying Braden Holtby. With Fleury looking more human over the past two games, saving just 49 of 58 shots (84 percent), the Capitals have come alive.

The injuries have also taken a toll. The Penguins started the offseason without star defenseman Kris Letang, and now Sidney Crosby is working through the effects of his head injuries. It’s unclear exactly how that situation has been handled over the past week given the comments from various parties, but Crosby hasn’t been himself.

All of that will get put aside when the puck drops on Wednesday night in the nation’s capital, though. The Capitals and Penguins both have good shots at winning Game 7, but only one team will advance to face the Eastern Conference Final.
