Vladimir Putin says Russia has nothing to do with Comey firing, then scores 6 goals in hockey game

0

The strange saga of James Comey’s firing by Donald Trump just got a bit stranger. CBS correspondent Elizabeth Palmer was in Sochi interviewing President Vladimir Putin about the situation at the Bolshoy Ice Dome. She asked if the firing would have any effect on U.S.-Russia relations.

Putin, who was in full hockey gear, told Palmer through a translator, “Your question looks very funny for me. Don't be angry with me. We have nothing to do with that.”

He said it was a totally American issue and questioned Palmer about why she was asking him about it. Sure, I guess, although not entirely true, as Comey was conducting an investigation into Trump’s relations with Russia.

But the question remains ... why was Putin in full hockey gear??

He told Palmer he was going to play some hockey with “hockey fans” and “I invite you to do the same.”

As it turns out, he later scored six goals in the game, which was an exhibition match in the Night Hockey League in Sochi. He also fell over. If the president is coming toward you while you’re in the goal, you’re definitely getting out of the way, right?

Putin is really into sports. He attends events whenever he can. Here he is taking in a Judo match on a visit to Japan. Sometimes he even dresses up and participates.

Here he is surrounded by baseball players. According to the caption from Getty, it is at a baseball clinic in New York. I have no further information.

He may like all sports, but he really likes hockey. And really doesn’t want to be asked about the FBI.
