Sidney Crosby to play in Game 5 after passing concussion protocol
Crosby suffered a concussion in Game 3.
When Sidney Crosby left a high-intensity Game 3 after taking a hit to the head, his future in the 2017 NHL playoffs was left in doubt. When the Penguins confirmed he suffered a concussion, that doubt grew.

Penguins coach Mike Sullivan confirmed on Saturday morning that Crosby had passed baseline tests per the NHL’s concussion protocol and would be a game-time decision for Game 5 in Washington, D.C. Crosby took warm-ups, and shortly after was confirmed in the evening’s lineup.

The Capitals were surely hoping for different news, fighting for their season in Game 5 down 3-1 in the series. Crosby had four points in three games before the injury and 11 points throughout the playoffs.
This is just the latest in a string of head injuries for the Penguins captain. Crosby missed the first six games of this season, in fact, due to a concussion.
