Cristiano Ronaldo opens scoring for Real Madrid vs. Atlético in Champions League
Real Madrid have already taken the lead in the Champions League semifinal.
Real Madrid have made a dream start to their Champions League semifinal first leg against crosstown rivals Atlético, and there are no prizes for guessing who has netted the opening goal. Yep, that’s Cristiano Ronaldo leaping above Stefan Savić to head home his 101st career goal in this tournament, and give the defending champions an early advantage.
Ronaldo heads in his 6th goal in his last three #UCL games, and his 50th in the knockout stage (yes, also a record). https://t.co/oVJVB8RZwL

Conceding early will come as a blow for Atléti, who tend to excel in tight games where they’re allowed to sit back and counter-attack. However, it’s still very early in this tie, so we can surely expect Diego Simeone’s men to remain calm for quite a while yet. After all, when you’ve got Antoine Griezmann up top, you’re always likely to create a chance or two.
