[Women's Basketball] Holmes Named NJCAA 2nd Team All-American

Sky'lynn Holmes, who led Tyler Junior College to the national tournament while averaging a double-double for the Apache Ladies, was named to the 2016-17 NJCAA Division I women's basketball All-America team, Mark Krug, NJCAA Assistant Executive Director, announced on Friday from Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Holmes, a 6-2 sophomore forward who was a standout at Pine Tree High School in Longview, led TJC to a 24-9 record. She averaged 14.8 points and 10.3 rebounds along with 2.3 blocks. The Troy University-signee shot 50.4 percent from the floor.Holmes made the second-team squad with Trinity Valley Community College's Naomi Davenport, a 6-0 sophomore forward, earning first-team honors. Two other Region XIV players - sophomore guard Genesis Rivera of Panola College and freshman guard Eryka Sidney of San Jacinto - were named honorable mention.
