TJ Otzelberger and Iowa State have landed another commitment in the class of 2027.

Four-star forward Donovan Davis is now headed to Ames to play for the Cyclones, On3 first reported on Wednesday.

Davis, a 6-foot-7 forward from Freedom HS (WI), chose Iowa State over Nebraska, Wisconsin, Iowa and Marquette, among others.

He spoke with ZAGSBLOG about his recruitment, and particularly Iowa State, last spring.

“They’re a really good basketball team. They play really good defense. I take defense as a priority.,” Davis said. “They also have a really good community. I went down there for the Kansas game, when they beat Kansas and the stadium was just livid. It was a lot of cheers and big pops. You can really tell that they are showing support for Iowa State.”

He took is official visit to Iowa State last week, on April 29th, and just seven days later the Cyclones have landed a commitment from the top-40 recruit.

During his junior season at Freedom, Davis averaged 21.7 points, 12.0 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 2.3 steals per game.

Also a member of Team Herro on the Nike EYBL circuit, Davis will compete for his in-state program all spring long.

He’s Iowa State’s second commit in the class of 2027, joining four-star Iowan Josiah Harrington, who committed to the Cyclones in September of 2024.

Davis is ranked as the No. 38 overall recruit in the class of 2027, according to 247Sports.
