Kentucky transfer Denzel Aberdeen commits, returns to Florida
By JAMES MADDEN
Todd Golden and Florida are bringing back Kentucky transfer Denzel Aberdeen, who served as a crucial bench piece on the 2025 NCAA National Championship team.
Aberdeen transferred to Kentucky last April after three seasons with the Gators, averaging 13.5 points and 3.4 rebounds per game this season.
Having already spent four seasons at the college level, Aberdeen will likely have to apply for an NCAA waiver to receive an additional year of eligibility.
Aberdeen did however announce on Instagram that he is re-enrolling at Florida to finish his academic journey.
“I’m excited to announce that I’m planning to re-enroll at the University of Florida to finish my undergraduate degree,” he said on social media. “Thankful for the opportunity to finish my academy journey back home at the place where it started.”
If Aberdeen does receive an additional year of eligibility, since he played in just 12 games his freshman year, he’d be a likely starter for the Gators next season, who will likely need to replace Xaivian Lee and Thomas Haugh in their starting lineup.
