Raptors Injury News: Quickley, Murray-Boyles out vs. Knicks
The Toronto Raptors will be without two top players for a game with major playoff implications.
Immanuel Quickley, Collin Murray-Boyles and Trayce Jackson-Davis have all been ruled out for Toronto’s game in New York against the Knicks on Friday, the Raptors announced.
Two-way point guard Chucky Hepburn also remains out. He was declared out for the remainder of the G League season by Drew Jones on March 26 and is continuing to rehab with the Raptors.
Quickley and Murray-Boyles are sitting on the second night of a back-to-back, understandable for the Raptors point guard who played through plantar fasciitis over the last two games against the Miami Heat after missing eight straight due to the ailment.
Murray-Boyles is listed as out with a neck sprain. The standout rookie has also missed time on-and-off with a thumb issue that has plagued him over the back half of the season.
Quickley’s performance has been a tale of two halves. The 26-year-old guard shot only 34.7 percent from 3 over the first 41 games of the season, but has been red-hot since, hitting at a 41.9 percent clip in 29 games since.
Meanwhile, Murray-Boyles has managed to meaningfully contribute to winning, a rare feat for a first-year player. He is sixth among rookies in stocks per game (1.9) second in deflections per game (2.7). The 20-year-old has massive block and steal rates for his position, and the Raptors have been better at rebounding, limiting opponents’ rim frequency and defence as a whole when CMB is on the floor, all per Cleaning the Glass.
He’s also been on a heater of late, averaging 14.5 points on 70.7 percent from the field over his last five games, up from his marks of 8.6 and 57.9 percent on the season.
The Raptors are one win away from clinching a top-six spot and securing a playoff berth for the first time in four years. But they also enter Friday’s contest 0-4 against the Knicks on the season and 0-12 against them going back to 2022-23. Add that they’ll be without two key players and Toronto stands to be up against it at the Garden.
The Knicks also line up as a potential first-round matchup for the Raptors, as they are vying for the Nos. 3 and 4 seeds with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Toronto’s other possible playoff opponent, should they finish fifth or sixth.
