Report: Tempo sign Mabrey and Sykes to max contracts

0 1

The Toronto Tempo have made their first free agency moves.

Unrestricted free agents Marina Mabrey and Brittney Sykes have been signed to two-year max contracts, ESPN’s Alexa Philippou reported on Friday.

Mabrey was the Tempo’s unrestricted free agent pick from the expansion draft. Last season she played for the Connecticut Sun, but she was given a core designation by the Tempo ahead of Friday’s signing. Sykes is coming off of a successful season with the Seattle Storm. The 32-year-old is the Tempo’s first true free agent signing.

Both players are represented by agent Marcus Crenshaw of The FAM Sports Agency and he was the first to share the news with ESPN.

Mabrey and Sykes are both key backcourt additions for Canada’s first WNBA team. Mabrey averaged 14.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and four assists last season. Sykes posted similar numbers last season with 14.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, four assists and 1.2 steals on average per game.

The post Report: Tempo sign Mabrey and Sykes to max contracts first appeared on Raptors Republic.
