Big Ten forward gets tattoo to honor team, enters transfer portal next day
By JAMES MADDEN
With Nebraska having its best season and deepest tournament run in program history this year, forward Berke Buyuktuncel found a way to commemorate the Cornhuskers’ historic season. He got their record of 28-7 tattooed on his body, honoring the run Fred Hoiberg’s team had this season.
However, in an ironic turn of events, the 6-foot-10 Turkish forward entered the transfer portal just a day later.
In his second season with the program, Buyuktuncel averaged 6.5 points and 5.6 rebounds per game in 33 appearances, in all of which he started.
Buyuktuncel played 64 total games in his two seasons in Lincoln, while also playing 26 games his freshman year at UCLA.
He’ll have one season of eligibility remaining as he enters the portal.
