‘Outside chance’ Duke guard Caleb Foster plays in Sweet 16 vs St. John’s

BY ALEJANDRO LOPEZ

Duke could be receiving some reinforcements ahead of its Sweet 16 matchup against St. John’s.

Blue Devils head coach Jon Scheyer says there is a possibility, although not a likely one, that starting point guard Caleb Foster returns to action against the Johnnies.

“The way that he has worked, the chances have continued to increase,” Scheyer told Jon Rothstein of CBSSports. “I even think that there is an outside chance, maybe, for Friday. He’s trying to do the impossible here and come back as soon as he can. This weekend, I don’t think that I can rule it out because of who he is and how he’s been working.”

Foster left Duke’s regular season finale against North Carolina with a broken foot. Before his injury, the 6-foot-5 junior averaged 8.5 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game.
