Siena’s Gerry McNamara addresses his future after tournament loss
BY ALEJANDRO LOPEZ
Siena’ basketball season has come to a close and with that comes questions about their head coach’s future with the team.
Siena head coach Gerry McNamara has been linked to Syracuse’s head coaching vacancy. The former player for the Orange is the main name being linked with the program after South Florida head coach Bryan Hodgson turned down job.
But McNamara has yet to move on from his current job with Siena. The coach says he has still not gotten over the 71-65 loss at the hands of No. 1 Duke.
“The dust hasn’t settled for me,” McNamara said. “We haven’t even gotten home yet. I’d be lying if I said I was over the game I’m not.”
Once the reality of the loss settles, however, McNamara will have a major decision on his hand. Stay in the MAAC with Siena, or join the ACC and his alma mater as the head coach of the Syracuse Orange.
