The undefeated Cal State East Bay men’s basketball team continued its historic run, clinching the California Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament title with an 80-63 win over Cal Poly Humboldt in Pomona on Saturday night.

The Pioneers (30-0) captured their first conference tournament championship and earned their first ever berth into the NCAA Division II Tournament.

Cal State’s Jaayden Bush was named CCAA Tournament MVP while teammates Josh Ijeh and Tyree Campbell earned All-Tournament Team honors.

Bush led all scorers with a season high 23 points, shooting 7-of-14 from the field while adding five rebounds and two steals. Jalen Foy had 13 points and five rebounds, while Ijeh had a game-high 15 rebounds to go along with 12 points.

The Pioneers, who’ve been coached by Bryan Rooney since 2017, earned the CCAA automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament and were in line to host the West Regional as the No. 1 seed.

The selection show was to be held late Sunday night to determine which schools will be in the 64-team field.
