Kansas’ Darryn Peterson on narratives: ‘Somebody has had something to say probably after every game’

Kansas star Darryn Peterson spoke to the media for the first time in over a month on Monday, following Kansas’s 69-56 win against No. 5 Houston at Allen Fieldhouse. With ongoing discourse surrounding Peterson and his lingering health concerns, he offered his perspective on the narratives about him.

“Somebody has had something to say probably after every game…I don’t really pay attention,” Peterson told reporters Monday. “I kind of have been an anti-social loner my whole life.”

Peterson had 14 points in the win on Monday, his second-lowest scoring output of the season, while playing 30 minutes for the Jayhawks. Monday was just the 8th time in 17 appearances this season, in which he played over 30 minutes in a game.

Monday’s press conference was Peterson’s first time participating in postgame media since mid-January. However, Kansas has a protocol that typically will not allow players to speak with media while they deal with any injury concerns, which Peterson has.

The Jayhawks improved to 21-7 and will visit No. 2 Arizona on Saturday in Tucson.
