UCLA head coach Mick Cronin spoke with reported and issued an apology for his actions during and after Tuesday’s loss to Michigan State. During the game, Cronin told forward Steven Jamerson II to go to the locker room early after he committed a late-game flagrant foul and then lashed out at a reporter during his postgame press conference.
“I need to do a better job to make sure that I don’t do anything to embarrass our school. For that, I apologize,” Cronin said Friday. “I apologize to our people, the school, our students, everyone in our community, because that’s important.”
In addition to his incident with Jamerson, Cronin also sounded off on a reporter following UCLA’s loss on Tuesday.
“I could give a rat’s a** about the other team’s student section. I would like to give you, Kudos for the worst question I’ve ever been asked,” he said. “Are you raising your voice at me?”
He was asked about Michigan State’s student section chanting about UCLA forward Xavier Booker, a former Michigan State player, to which Cronin was not pleased. His relationship with the media has spicy for a lengthy period of time, but his actions during and after Tuesday’s game against the Spartans has received the most national attention.
