Ex-NBA player going back to college? There’s one taking college recruiting visit in first-of-its-kind move

Could an ex-NBA player be heading back to campus?

Amari Bailey, who played 10 games for the Charlotte Hornets during the 2023-24 season after being drafted in the second round of the 2023 NBA Draft, is set to visit Grand Canyon University, according to multiple reports.

Bailey, who was cut from the NBA G League last summer, is the latest former pro to express interest in going “Back to School” after Baylor signed former NBA Draft pick James Nnaji and Alabama added former NBA G League player Charles Bediako. Neither Nnaji or Bediako ever played in an NBA game.

“Right now I’d be a senior in college,” Bailey told ESPN. “I’m not trying to be 27 years old playing college athletics. No shade to the guys that do; that’s their journey. But I went to go play professionally and learned a lot, went through a lot. So, like, why not me?”
