Five-star forward Qayden Samuels sets commitment date

By JAMES MADDEN

Five-star forward Qayden Samuels will announce his commitment on Wednesday, January 28th, he announced on X on Saturday. Samuels is set to decide between just Alabama and Georgetown.

The 6-foot-5 forward is a senior at Bishop McNamara (MD) and spent his summer with Team Takeover on the Nike EYBL circuit. Over the summer for Team Takeover, Samuels averaged 20 points and 9.6 rebounds per game on the circuit.

ZAGSBLOG spoke with the five-star in May, where he compared his game to Spurs guard Dylan Harper and described himself as a defensive-minded player.

“I play defense,” Samuels told ZAGSBLOG. “I don’t just play offense and let my scoring do the talking. I play defense too, and I can guard the best player.”

He also spoke about the role Georgetown has played in his recruitment and his relationship with head coach Ed Cooley.

“I love Georgetown. Georgetown is always showing love. They invite me to everything. I’m at every game front, courtside. It’s amazing. I love Georgetown. I love Ed Cooley. He’s himself and I feel like if I have a coach like that who can be himself around me and trust me, I’ll be good.”

Samuels has not announced the time of his scheduled commitment yet, but one of the top remaining uncommitted recruits in the class of 2026, is set to come off the board on Wednesday.
