NCAA announces new transfer portal window for men’s and women’s basketball

The NCAA is changing the transfer portal window for Men’s and Women’s basketball.
The transfer portal will now open the day after the National Championship game for a 15-day window from April 7-21.
The NCAA announced the change on Wednesday and it will be effective immediately this season.
They also announced a transfer portal window will open after a school makes a coaching change.
“When a head coaching change occurs, a 15-day period will open five days after the new head coach is hired or publicly announced. If a new head coach is not announced within 30 days of the previous head coach’s departure — and the 31st day after the head coach’s departure is after the championship game — a 15-day window will open.”
Team’s will now have more time to prepare and have a general manager in place by the time the transfer portal opens.
The change to the transfer portal period is a welcomed one for many, as teams will be allowed to focus solely on the season at hand rather than the revolving door of the off-season before the season has come to a close.
