Kansas star Darryn Peterson to miss second straight game

Kansas star freshman Darryn Peterson is set to miss his second consecutive game on Saturday with a hamstring injury, as Kansas hosts Princeton. Peterson also missed the Jayhawks’ win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Tuesday.

The 6-foot-6 guard has 21.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game in two games this season.

He has battled cramping issues since Kansas’ opening exhibition game against Louisville, but has now been forced to battle hamstring soreness too.

Kansas head coach Bill Self said the team doesn’t expect for this injury to be a long-term problem for Peterson, but said he hasn’t practiced in the last two days.

With the Jayhawks set to face Duke at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday, it is still unclear what Peterson’s status will be for the game that could feature the potential top-two picks in next year’s NBA Draft: Peterson and Duke’s Cameron Boozer.
