Dallas Mavericks expected to fire general manager Nico Harrison

Even Cooper Flagg couldn’t help the Dallas Mavericks organization escape the ridicule surrounding one of the most controversial trades in NBA history.

The Mavericks are expected to fire general manager Nico Harrison ‘imminently’ on Tuesday, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Harrison was the architect of the trade that sent beloved superstar Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers less than a year removed from Doncic leading the organization to an NBA Finals appearance.

Since the trade, the Mavericks are a combined 42-51 and have gotten off to a particularly disappointing start to the NBA season in 2025.

Mavericks owner Patrick Dumont reportedly accepted the trade as a ‘mistake’ during a courtside interaction with a fan on Monday night.

Former NBA player for the Mavericks Micheal Finley and Matt Riccardi are expected to be appointed as the interim leaders of basketball operations in Dallas.

Whether or not the Mavericks will be able to recover from the trade still remains to be seen, especially after the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft fell into their laps during the lottery, a pick they had a 1.8% chance to win.

But the man who many blame for the Mavericks shocking decision will not be there long enough to find out.
