Kentucky leads NBA rosters with 27 former players, Duke follows with 24
BY ALEJANDRO LOPEZ
The NBA season is officially upon us, and even with basketball becoming an increasingly global game, the college Blue Bloods still lead the way on the opening night rosters.
The Kentucky Wildcats lead all of college basketball with 27 former players representing the program on NBA rosters this season, with the Duke following closely behind at 24.
These two programs have more representatives in the NBA this season than any international country has, with Canada leading the way at 23 representatives.
The Blue Devils have former players at 14 of the 30 different NBA franchises and each of their starting five members from the 2024-25 college basketball season making their respective franchises NBA rosters.
These five include Cooper Flagg, Sion James, Kon Knueppel, Khaman Maluach and Tyrese Proctor.
The NBA’s international talent is at an all-time high, but the path to the NBA through college has continued to have a solid foundation.
