Four-star 2026 forward Cody Peck talks recruiting
BY ZACH SMART
As a versatile 6-foot-11 rim protector capable of guarding nearly every position at this level, Class of 2026 forward Cody Peck is hell-bent on culminating his high school career with a state title at Davidson Day School (NC).
“I think we have the team to do it this year,” said Peck, who is back home after spending his junior season at national power lMG Academy (FL).
“I think we should be among the best teams in the state. I really think we have a lot of depth. So definitely, the ultimate goal is to win the state.”
As a lob finisher who has leaned more on his outside shot, Peck has been a mobile floor changer.
He changes the trajectory of shots inside and has become adept at shuffling his feet on the perimeter and sitting down on wings and guards.
“I really take a lot of pride in my defense and not letting anybody go by me or score on me,” said Peck, who is coming off a visit to Dayton and is slated to visit Tennessee on October 24th.
Peck, who worked at refining his guard’s skill set and ramping up his motor this summer, has heard from Duke and Louisville recently.
He is currently hearing from Dayton, Tennessee, Xavier, Virginia, and several others most actively.
We caught up with the North Carolina native, who broke down several of the schools recruiting him.
Dayton: “I really had a great visit there this past weekend. The family feel with the program was really there. I mesh well with the players and it was cool to be able to hang out with them. Just the way they let their bigs and hybrids fit into their offense, I think it really aligns with my game.”
Tennessee: “They’ve been really just telling me how bad they want me. The assistant coach, (Bryan) Lentz, has been recruiting me for a while now. He’s been great.
They are definitely a viable option. They envision me as a really versatile stretch four who can open the floor up and make things happen. They see real value in my defense as well.”
Xavier–(Assistant) Coach (Kareem) Richardson, he recently came in for an in-home visit. The staff has told me they love my versatility. They’ve illustrated that they can see me in multiple parts of the offense instead of just confined to one space. I think an upcoming visit is definitely in the works.”
Virginia –“They definitely have a solid program there. There is really a lot of trustworthy guys on the staff and people that I can continue to build the relationship with over there.Just the way I would fit into the offense would be unique. They usually have a really good system for the bigs. I wouldn’t have to alter the way I play.
My father (former Marshall forward Micheal Peck) and my agent have really been talking to them a lot.”
