Cincinnati lands Brazilian guard Lucas Atauri
By JAMES MADDEN
Class of 2025 Brazilian guard Lucas Atauri has officially signed with Cincinnati, his agent Stevan Petrovic confirmed to ZAGSBLOG.
The news was first reported by Jonathan Givony.
The 6-foot-3, 190-pound guard is 21 years old and played for C.A. Paulistano in São Paulo, Brazil last season. In 39 games in the NBB, Atauri averaged 6.5 points per game and shot around 39% from three-point range.
His best game of the season came on November 14 when he recorded 19 points and finished three-of-six from deep in a game against UniFacisa.
Atauri was originally committed to DePaul, but de-committed when he was unable to enroll in the school due to an admissions issue.
He is Cincinnati’s ninth commit of the offseason and joins four-star Shon Abaev, four-star Keyshaun Tillery, Baba Miller (Florida Atlantic), Jalen Haynes (George Mason), Jalen Celestine (Baylor), Moustapha Thiam (UCF), Sencire Harris (West Virginia) and Kerr Kriisa (Kentucky) as the team’s newcomers.
