One of college basketball’s most storied programs has huge expectations heading into the 2025-26 season, and one of their rising juniors is a big factor in their potential success.

Huskies guard Solo Ball could be on track to have a ‘breakout season’, according to Draft Express’s Jonathan Givony.

“Already known as a knockdown shooter, he is showing real growth in making plays off the dribble, attacking closeouts with confidence and using his 7-foot wingspan to disrupt defensively,” Givony said after attending two UConn practices.

The 6-foot-3 guard already had a large leap in production in his sophomore season, averaging over 10 points per game more than he did his freshman year while shooting 41.4% from long distance.

He averaged 14.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game in his sophomore season for the Huskies.

If his numbers see another leap in production in his junior season, he could go from one of the best shooters in college basketball to one of the best overall players.

With his shooting ability and his physical characteristics, there is a lot to be excited about in Ball’s game.

Ball’s production alongside a promising recruiting class headlined by five-star prospect Braylon Mullins could make UConn one of the teams to beat in college basketball next season.
