2027 DMV Guard Talks Georgetown Visit, Options
BY ZACH SMART
A cerebral, creative Class of 2027 point guard, Grace Christian School (MD)’s J’Lon Lyons said he was impressed with the culture Ed Cooley has established at Georgetown during his recent visit.
As he prepares for an upcoming unofficial visit to VCU on Sept.6th, Lyons has several other programs he’s considering.
“The trip to Georgetown was nothing but amazing,” Lyons said.
“The message the coaching staff there is sending me is great. They are emphasizing getting my weight up and becoming stronger, since the Big East is a physical conference.”
Lyons holds offers from Florida State, Oklahoma State, Syracuse, Seton Hall, Providence, Virginia Tech, Indiana, and several others.
“Syracuse, for sure,” Lyons said when rattling off possible upcoming visits.
“We plan on visiting Indiana, Mississippi State, and Marquette.”
A downhill attacker with considerable burst, Lyons has developed a reliable outside touch as he’s adapted to the intricacies of the combo guard role.
His fluid mid range game and crafty lane navigation were evident with New World AAU this summer, as the Top-100 recruit added several offers.
Lyons has developed an authentic relationship with assistant coach Kenny Johnson at Indiana. He has been hearing consistently from a major DMV area recruiting presence in assistant coach David Cox since he joined Kevin Willard’s staff at Villanova in May.
Prolific Move
Hovering around the Top-40, Class of 2026 forward MJ Madison is one of the key figures in Prolific Prep’s national recruiting haul.
Having made the trek all the way from California to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Prolific will have closer proximity for matchups against traditional heavy hitters such as IMG Academy and Montverde Academy while subseuqently playing in the prestigious City of Palms and on The Grind Session circuit.
The national team revitalized its roster with high end talent such as five star 2026 guard Caleb Holt.
In Madison, who showed flashes at national power Long Island Lutheran (NY) as a sophomore last season, the program has an athletic 6-foot-9 face up threat with proficiency around the rim.
Madison refined his skill set this summer, boasting a more polished mid range game and putting the ball on the deck comfortably in creating space and opportunity.
A 17-year old senior, Madison is hearing from the likes of Georgia, Syracuse, West Virginia, Penn State, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, UAB, and others.
With a Pterodactyl-like wingspan and a 215-pound frame, Madison was a catch and post and catch and face source for the Albany City Rocks this summer. He thrives at finishing between a deferred and the rim and relishing contact.
