LAWRENCE (KSNT) - Kansas head men's basketball coach Bill Self spoke with the media today, "I'm probably doing about as well as you can do," Self said.

Back in late July, Self underwent a procedure to insert two stents. He was released from the hospital on Jul. 26.

"They told me I could have some improvements in my lifestyle and life choices, primarily in food and exercise," Self said.

In March of 2023, Self underwent a procedure to have two stents inserted. He missed the Big 12 Tournament and NCAA Tournament.

"From a rehab standpoint and from where I am post, to where I was before. I actually think I am better today than I was then," Self said. "I could coach a game tomorrow. I could have practice tomorrow. And back then because of the complications I had, they didn't want me doing anything for awhile."

Self said from a health stand point he hasn't thought about retirement.

"I asked the surgeon, 'hey what do you think? Is this something that should change my way of thinking on stuff,' Self said. "The surgeon said, 'well do you love what you do?' and I said, 'yes' and the surgeon said, 'well than keep doing it.'"
