GB defeated by France in EuroBasket warm up

0 4

Great Britain have gone down 74-67 at the hands of France in their EuroBasket warm up game on Friday night at Palais Des Sports in Pau.

After a tight first quarter which ended with the scores tied at 16 apiece, the French created a buffer in the second period to enter halftime up by eight points.

The GB squad were unable to cut into the deficit after the break as they found themselves on the wrong end of a 59-44 scoreline by the conclusion of the third quarter.

France, who led by as much as 19, were then able to professionally manage and see out the final 10 minutes to come away as victors in the international friendly.

Akwasi Yeboah and Jubrile Belo both made solid contributions and tallied up 11 points each to lead the Brits in scoring.

For the French team, Mouhammadou Jaiteh and Zaccharie Risacher delivered strong performances off the bench as they both notched up 12 points to finish as the game’s joint top scorers, whilst Guerschon Yabusele wasn’t far behind them with 11 points and three steals.

Box score.

Marc Steutel’s side will next face Belgium in Ostend on August 15 as part of their EuroBasket preparations, with warm up games against Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia and Estonia still to follow.
